New on GameUp: The Meaning of Beep

Posted by jglassman on

Have your students ever wondered what Moby’s beeps mean? Now is their chance to figure it out! Developed in collaboration with the The Institute of Play, The Meaning of Beep – our first multi-player game – challenges students to apply context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words.  The game presents three sentences, one at a time, for which students must identify the meaning of “beep” – a placeholder for a missing word. As students progress in a round, the sentences provide more context clues so that by the third sentence, they should be able to correctly determine the missing word. Students will enjoy making their own offline version of the game.

The Meaning of Beep is enabled with our SnapThought tool, which encourages students to write about and reflect on the thought process behind their gameplay. For tips and ideas on using The Meaning of Beep in your classroom, explore our Lesson Ideas page.
