  • Assign Related Reading and have students read one of the articles. Partner them with someone who read a different article to share what they learned with each other.

Assign Amelia Earhart Challenge and Quiz, prompting students to apply essential literacy skills while demonstrating what they learned about this topic.


Students express what they learned about Amelia Earhart while practicing essential literacy skills with one or more of the following activities. Differentiate by assigning ones that meet individual student needs.

  • Make-a-Movie: Produce a news report announcing Amelia Earhart’s trip around the globe. Describe her previous flights, and share how people viewed Earhart at the time. 
  • Make-a-Map: Create a concept map sequencing key events in Amelia Earhart’s life. 
  • Creative Coding: Code an Amelia Earhart museum exhibit featuring  artifacts representing  her accomplishments.
  • Primary Source Activity: Examine Amelia Earhart’s letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the collectible card from that era. Cite evidence to answer the accompanying questions.
