For ELLs or any student who may have difficulty with labeling diagrams, try these tips and strategies:

  • Do the Challenge with students. You drag the first label, then have volunteers come up one at a time to drag the remaining labels.  
  • Use sentence frames. Below are examples of sentence frames to help ELLs talk about labeling a diagram, and to think about the relationships they’re applying.
