Classroom Activities: Taking Photos
These classroom activities are designed to complement the Taking Photos topic on BrainPOP Jr.
Colors Everywhere
We live in a very colorful world! If possible, give a photography assignment to pairs or small groups. Have teams look for interesting colors and take pictures of them. They might photograph a garden, someone’s clothes, books in a library, or posters along a wall. Encourage students to look around them and find colorful objects in the least expected places! You may want to repeat the activity and having children explore shapes or textures.
Different Angles
Invite students to take many photographs of the same subject. Encourage them to be creative in their portrayals by experimenting with different angles and distances. Students may want to photograph their subject in a variety of settings or contexts. Have students create a portfolio and share their work with the class.
