Family and Homeschool Activities for Teaching About Quadrilaterals
These family and homeschool activities are designed to complement the BrainPOP Jr. Quadrilaterals topic page, which includes a movie, quizzes, online games, printable activities, and more.
Quadrilaterals Around Town
Keep your eyes out for quadrilaterals you see around town, from a kite in the park to a rectangular street sign. Encourage your child to keep notes or drawings of all the quadrilaterals you see as you stroll around town.
Quad Cookies
Make cookies shaped like quadrilaterals with your child. Find a recipe for sugar or butter cookies online. Then together, roll out dough into different quadrilateral shapes. Bake the cookies and have your child decorate each one. Share the cookies with friends and family and have your child describe each quadrilateral.
Memory!
Play a memory game. Draw (or have your child draw) each of the following on four index cards: square, rectangle, trapezoid, rhombus. On four separate cards write the shapes’ names. Shuffle the cards and lay them out on a table in two rows of four. Challenge your child to find the the picture and word that match. Take turns.
