Grade Levels: K-3

These family and homeschool activities are designed to complement the Concept Maps topic on BrainPOP Jr.

Mapping Chores

What responsibilities does your child have around the house or community? Have your child create a concept map about his or her tasks. You may want to start by brainstorming all the tasks your child is responsible for and then sorting them into groups. For example, you may want to sort chores by indoor or outdoor tasks, or sort them by different areas of the house, such as the bedroom or living room. Display the map in your house as a reminder of your child’s responsibilities!

Family Map

Together with your child, create a concept map about your family. Think of everyone you know in your family and come up with any interesting details, such as their job, age, their hometown, or where they currently live. Then have your child create a concept map using the information. Then review the concept map together. What are other ways you can organize the concept map? What other groups can you add? Remind your child that information in concept maps can be organized in many different ways. Using the same details, create a different concept map.
