Grade Levels: K-3

These classroom activities are designed to complement the Colors topic on BrainPOP Jr.

Trip to a Museum
If possible, take students to an art museum. Explore artwork together and discuss the use of color. How does each work make them feel? How do you think the artists feel? Why do you think the artist chose to work with those particular colors? Invite students to take notes or sketch a few pieces to discuss later in class.

Color Match

Give small groups red, blue, yellow, black, and white paints and thick paper. Have one student create a color using a combination of two paints while the other group members close their eyes or turn away. Then have the group members try to recreate the same color. Remind students to add small amounts of paint–it’s easier to add a color than to take one away.
