Step 1: ACTIVATE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
Display this sentence: The holes in the nice garden planted by Cassie had been made by a squirrel.
Ask students: How could you make this sentence read more clearly?
Step 2: BUILD KNOWLEDGE

- Play the Movie, pausing to check for understanding.
- Have students read one of the following Related Reading articles: “Arts and Entertainment” or “Language.” Partner them with someone who read a different article to share what they learned with each other.
Step 3: APPLY and ASSESS
