Tips for Introducing a New Game
You can engage the whole class in a gaming experience by projecting the game and go through its introduction with the class. Demonstrate how to play the game yourself first so you can think aloud and model game strategies. Then allow one or two student volunteers to play. Pause the game at teachable moments to illustrate points you would like to make about the subject. Address any misconceptions you notice, and guide students to think deeply about the skills and concepts rather than just playing for speed. Finally, release students to play on their own or with a partner.
