What is Multiple Response and Why is it Important?

Objective: Students will understand a question stem, prompt, or conceptual rule and identify multiple correct answers.

The Multiple Response Challenge task requires students to understand a question prompt, evaluate multiple answers and identify correct choices. To succeed in this task, students must possess content knowledge or correctly apply rules to identify best answers. Multiple response tasks encourage close reading and require higher-order thinking skills, more so than traditional multiple choice questions.

Answering multiple response questions is a skill students can practice in every grade and across the curriculum.
