Birds Discussion Prompts and Pause Points

Before the Movie:

What kinds of birds do you see where you live?

What do you hope to learn about birds??

During the Movie (Pause Points):

Stop at the following times in the movie and ask questions or prompt a discussion to keep students focused and to assess their understanding before moving on:

Timecode 1:07: In what way are birds’ respiratory systems efficient?? 

Timecode 1:35: In what way is airplane flight similar to bird flight? How is it different?

Timecode 1:57: What three purposes do birds’ feathers serve? 

After the Movie:

Look at the four related movies at the bottom of the page. Explain how each is connected to the Birds Topic

How might flightless birds be structurally different from flying birds? How might they have different survival patterns?
