Grade Levels: K-3

These family and homeschool activities are designed to complement the BrainPOP Jr. topic Congruent and Similar Shapes, which includes a movie, quizzes, online games, printable activities, and more.

Draw It!
Draw a figure and then challenge your child to draw a congruent or similar shape.
You may want to provide tracing paper or cut your figure out so your child can trace
around it. Your child may want to use a ruler to help him or her draw a similar shape.
Draw shapes such as pentagons, hexagons, and octagons and count the sides together to
identify the shape. Then reverse roles and have your child draw a figure and ask you to
draw a congruent or similar figure. You may want to "accidentally" draw incorrect
figures and have your child correct your drawing.

Memory
Draw congruent and similar figures on separate index cards or small slips of paper.
Then turn the cards over and have your child play a game of "Memory," finding the pairs that are congruent or similar. As your child plays, have him or her identify the shapes and explain why they are congruent or similar. Then have your child draw his or her own cards and you be the player.
