Grade Levels: K-3

These family and homeschool activities are designed to complement the Combinations topic on BrainPOP Jr.

Combo Meal

Give your child a few options for a meal or snack. For example, you may want to offer a choice of a sandwich, pasta, or salad, and a choice of milk or water. Then have your child calculate the total possible combinations. Your child can create a chart or tree diagram, or rearrange the dishes to show all the possible combinations.

Seating Arrangement

Have your child assign seats around a table to members of the family. He or she can map out the seat assignments and find all the possible combinations. Your child can also move dolls or props in chairs to find all the combinations. Have him or her come up with a multiplication sentence to calculate the total possible arrangements.
