These family and homeschool activities are designed to complement the Classifying Animals topic on BrainPOP Jr.

Bird-Watching

Learn about the wildlife in your own backyard! Go bird-watching with your child and observe, document (through photos or drawings), and catalog birds you see in your neighborhood. How are the birds alike and different? You may want to check out a local bird guide from your library or get guides from your local Audubon Society chapter.

Conservation at Home

Together with your child, learn about conservation efforts in your community. What can you do to preserve local plants and animal habitats? How can you promote wildlife in your own community? This could be as simple as planting a butterfly garden for migrating butterflies and birds or clearing trash from areas populated by small animals. Help your child get involved with the community and be an active member of a conservation group.
