BrainPOP,  a global leader in online, animated educational resources, seeks a talented writer to join our editorial team and help create new content across a broad range of subjects. In this role, you may also assist with copywriting and proofreading for our Digital & Strategic Communications team as well as BrainPOP Educators, our educator outreach and training area. Reporting to our Editorial Production Director, the position is based at our NYC headquarters and offers a competitive salary.

What You’ll Work On: 

Our new writer will contribute to all editorial team efforts, including, but not limited to:

  • Writing and editing quizzes, activities, and other features
  • Enhancing our content’s metadata
  • Aligning content with academic standards like CCSS and NGSS
  • Ensuring that files are correctly versioned and workflow is tracked in our data management platform
  • Creating content to support games developed in-house
  • Reviewing and editing existing movies and features
  • Editorial support for BrainPOP Educators, our professional development resource for teachers, as well as our Digital & Strategic Communications efforts (sales and marketing collateral, e-blasts, etc.)

What We’re Looking For:

  • An ace writer with an ear for tone and style
  • An ambitious communicator, eager to teach big concepts to kids
  • Originality and a determination to approach topics from a fresh perspective
  • Someone who can quickly learn unfamiliar subjects, with strong research, communications, editorial, and multi-tasking skills
  • An eagle-eyed proofreader with strong attention to detail
  • A good sense of humor
  • Preferred but not required:
    • Experience with a K-12 audience
    • Familiarity with Bloom’s taxonomy and the use of higher order thinking for assessment
    • Familiarity with the Common Core and/or Next Generation Science Standards
