BrainPOP Launches Free Financial Literacy Movies and Activities, Illuminating Timely Topics for Kids, Their Teachers, and Their Parents

Leading Online Education Resource Offers Content Throughout Financial Literacy Month

Spotlight: Financial Literacy

New York, April 2 – Whether from the anxious conversation of their parents or from the sobering news they hear on television or online, children are well-aware that our nation is facing a financial crisis. It may, however, be difficult for them to fully understand what’s happening or why it’s happening.

BrainPOP, the award-winning provider of online educational content to K-12 teachers, children, and their parents, offers an array of resources that can help foster discussion of timely topics. Throughout April – Financial Literacy Month – the company will provide free access to a collection of its web-delivered animated movies, quizzes, and activities, covering such topics as the stock market, banking, and mortgages (grades 3 and up), and money, goods, and services (grades K-3). BrainPOP’s Spotlight: Financial Literacy presents age-appropriate information in a voice children can relate to.

“Children may have questions about the current situation, and they may feel some anxiety about it. The best way to answer and reassure them is to talk about the issues at hand,” said Avraham Kadar, M.D., BrainPOP’s founder and CEO. “Our movies help open the channels of communication, while teaching healthy financial habits for the future.”

BrainPOP’s Spotlight: Financial Literacy ( is free through April 30. In addition, the company offers visitors the ability to easily embed the Spotlight’s content on their own web sites and blogs.
