We’ve all heard that games enhance learning, yet incorporating them can prove challenging. This hands-on session highlights how real teachers use games in a range of ways. You’ll see different options for adapting games to meet your needs and adding a new dimension to your teaching.

Let Teachers Think Like Futurists: Re-Imagining the Future of Tech-Powered Play in the Early Childhood Classroom

Join Jessica Millstone (Director of Engagement, BrainPOP) and Katie King (Deputy Director, Teach the Future) to design the next generation of early learning classrooms! You’ll hear about some of the current challenges surrounding game-based learning and technology, then work with Jessica and Katie on building a model path towards the future – including materials and strategies. In the process, you’ll pick up great tips you can put to use in today’s classroom.

Game On: Using Digital Games for 21st Century Teaching, Learning and Assessment

If you could somehow harness the excitement and engagement of digital game play in class, students would experience hands-on, brains-on learning via media that’s important to them in their everyday lives outside of school. You’ll explore instructional strategies to make digital game-based learning a success, meaningful assessment processes, and tips for evaluating digital games.

Certified BrainPOP Educator Lauren Wade (St. Johns County School District, FL) shows you how to use BrainPOP for formative assessment via My BrainPOP, which lets you keep track of learning; create custom assessments; review and provide feedback on learning artifacts submitted by students; see quiz results and class-wide analysis; and much more.
