Educator Resources for The Fiscal Ship

The Fiscal Ship is a fun interactive that uses real world policies and data from the Congressional Budget Office to teach about national debt and the role of the federal budget. Players learn how Congress can work to balance future budgets while still being ensuring government services. The Fiscal Ship game presents these ideas in a non-partisan approach: players can pick their priorities (or test others' budgetary theories!) to see whether or not they keep the ship on an even keel. Lastly, the game can serve as a forum for classroom discussion, as each policy provides fact-based pro and con arguments. The Fiscal Ship can be a lively and helpful starting point to deepen students' understanding of partisan and budgetary arguments on the news and social media.
