Educator Resources for Flap to the Future

Flap to the Future is an immersive game designed to help students understand the adaptations birds evolved over millions of years that allowed them to fly. Players start as a feathered but earthbound small dinosaur and travel through evolutionary time, unlocking new flight adaptations as they go. Students learn which predators to avoid in each adaptation, and how evolutionary changes alter survival odds. In the fourth and final level, players enter the deep future, where they unleash new evolutionary scenarios each time they play by controlling the strength of each adaptation. Created by scientists from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Flap to the Future was designed to amplify teaching units on birds, adaptations, and evolution.
