We’re heading to Austin, TX February 1 – 5 for TCEA 2016 and we’re excited to share a long list of BrainPOP happenings! From concurrent sessions hosted by Certified BrainPOP Educators to trainings in our POPUp Classroom, there are a number of ways to take a deep dive into all things BrainPOP. Check out our TCEA schedule below!

Get Certified: Our Certified BrainPOP Educator Workshop

Take the first step towards becoming a Certified BrainPOP Educator – or simply hone your BrainPOP expertise to enrich your curriculum. These sessions involve hands-on exploration and modeling via large-group, small-group, and partner activities. If you’re a certification program participant, you’ll complete supplemental requirements after the conference and participate actively in our online community. Please bring your own tablet or laptop. While this session is free, pre-registration is required.
Think You Know BrainPOP?

Each of these responsive, hands-on workshops begins with a brief look at all things BrainPOP. Then, you’ll vote to determine what we’ll cover in the rest of the session. The newly mobile-ready site and all the features you can access from your tablet or phone? My BrainPOP? Make-a-Map and the Quiz Mixer? GameUp and in-game assessment? PD offerings? Concept Mapping and Formative Assessment With BrainPOP

Concept mapping encourages learners to represent their thinking visually. Analyzing concept maps helps instructors formatively assess student progress. In this hands-on interactive session led by BrainPOP’s Laura Gatto (Product Manager, Make-a-Map), you’ll explore concept maps and the role they play in both thinking and assessing. BrainPOP: Connecting the Dots for Learners

Helen Mowers (Killeen ISD), Anna Adam (Killeen ISD), and Certified BrainPOP Educator Sara Richards (Round Rock ISD) share tools that enable deeper learning and help students make connections with prior knowledge. Research-based strategies like mind-mapping and gamification come to life in a whole new way as students employ their creativity in personalized activities.
