To Kill a Mockingbird has remained a classic for more than 50 years, with Atticus Finch standing out as an icon of justice and morality. But this summer, the release of Harper Lee’s second book cast Atticus in a different light and inspired readers of all ages to revisit the original work. Our newest topic does just that. Journey back to the troubled Jim Crow South with Tim and Moby as they explore To Kill a Mockingbird‘s central themes and characters. Talk to kids about the title’s mockingbird metaphor, manifestations of that metaphor throughout the story, and how the book brought issues like racism and segregation to light.
