3 Ways for Using BrainPOP Jr. To Teach Computer Skills to Young Learners
Posted by SM Bruner on
BrainPOP Jr. can help you teach and reinforce all sorts of key skills in technology for K-3 students: internet safety, parts of a computer, responsible use of computers, blogs, email, and more! Here are some ideas to get you started:
Teach young students computer basics. Our Parts of a Computer movie will show them the components of desktops and laptops, as well as how to operate the computer responsibly.
Teach students about reading and writing online. The Blogs topic page explains blogging to students and prepares them to participate in writing, reading, and commenting on a class blog. The Email topic page allows students to explore the components of an email so that they can read, write, and respond to emails with classmates, teachers, and other members of the school community.
Teach students about online safety. BrainPOP Jr.’s Internet Safety topic page includes a movie, game, and various activities related to responsible and safe use of the internet for children. Have students play the online Share Jumper game to practice making smart choices about sharing information online.
