Pick Your Panels: Vote Us Onto the Official SXSWedu Line-Up

Posted by Traci K. on

A big thanks to everyone who joined us at SXSWedu 2014 – we’d love to see you there again this March.

But to get there, we need your help! Several BrainPOP proposals were chosen for inclusion in the Panel Picker, where educators can cast their votes for the most compelling ideas and ultimately shape the official conference line-up. We hope you’ll visit the Panel Picker by September 5th and give our sessions a “Thumbs Up.” (You’ll need to create an SXSW username and password if you don’t already have one, but it’s free and easy!)

Consider Concept Mapping 2:0: Reinvented Using Animation with our own Laura Gatto, who’ll show attendees how concept mapping can guide students in their efforts to turn raw information into knowledge.  Andrew Gardner teams up with Emily Smith (Hive Society); Kathlene Holmes (University of Texas at Austin); and Detra Price-Dennis (Teachers College, Columbia University) for A Collaboration Shift: Schools, Ed Tech & Research. In that session, the hosts will reveal how they used stop-motion animations to explore socially relevant topics. Katya Hott and POPstar Steve Isaacs propose Building the EdTech Bridge, which looks at the relationship between teachers and ed tech entrepreneurs. And, there’s Paying it Forward: Leveraging Today’s Female Voice, featuring BrainPOP’s Kari Stubbs, Julie Evans (Project Tomorrow), Kecia Ray (Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools), and Mila Thomas Fuller (National Council of Teachers of English). Their panel delves into the role of women in education technology.

Beyond our own office walls, we’re recommending a few other Panel Picker sessions as well. POPstar Andrea Keller poses Level Up With Digital Storytelling, while Paige Johnson of Intel submitted Leading Edge: Key Traits of Ed-Tech Visionaries. POPstar David Conover offers Imagine Future Classrooms, alongside Oddgeir Tveiten (Stanford University), Donna Kidwell (Webstudent), and Keith Devlin (HStar Institute Stanford).

Thanks for your continued support!
